Miscellaneous (Garb)

Photos of garb that I didn't make, or on which I didn't spend much time.
Please pardon the mess while I experiment with different gallery options!

Lord Vytautas Vilkas and I on our way to our first event, Tir-y-Don's Birthday and Investiture Celebration 2015. Lord Vytautas is wearing a cotehardie made for him for a friend's wedding. I was able to wear this gorgeous velvet bliaut provided by Baroness Magda z Stalburg (link to OP entry below). The belt I found at a thrift store, and the veil is a flour sack cloth hand towel from Walmart (tinyurl.com/3c78yrp3), a white elastic headband, and some long pearl head straight pins from Jo-Ann.

Ruby Joust 2015 - This tunic was made from cotton bottomweight in a hurry using the method described at the link below (under "Dressing the Part"). I got the purple long-sleeved T-tunic as a hand-me-down. The white scarf, straw hat, and belt are from thrift stores. The purse was embroidered for me by Lord Vytautas Vilkas.

Ruby Joust 2015 - I found that orange dress in a thrift store. It has lacing in the back, which is absolutely inaccurate - but it looks cute!

Pennsic 2015 - a closer look at the bodice of the dress. As you can see, I upgraded my jewelry a bit! The colors of the bead strands represent the bi pride flag. I also made a Jorvik style hood out of a sample of herringbone linen I ordered from Fashion Fabrics Club (link below).

Pennsic 2015 - I made this T-tunic following the same method I used for his red tunic (link below).

Pennsic 2016 - a 2 seam T-tunic made in a hurry using the method described at the link below (under "Dressing the Part"). If I recall correctly I found the fabric at Jo-Ann. The belt is a cotton herringbone trim, also from Jo-Ann.

Purchased from FiorentinaCostuming on Etsy (see link below). The one I purchased was only $69, I think it may have been the sample or a prototype.

Purchased from TheCelticDreamDesign on Etsy (see link below). I'm not actually sure if this is period or even perioid for anywhere, but it was so gorgeous and only $45 I went ahead and got it. This top is green dupioni silk with an embroidered peacock on the back, with a royal blue cotton lining.

The embroidery on the back

Pennsic 2017 - wearing a beautiful blue and gold brocade V-front late 16th century Venetian gown, which I bought from THL Sarah von Feuerbach (link to OP entry below), along with my giant red veil.

The sleeves on the gown were a little too small for me, so I added some little round gold filigree beads from Michaels (tinyurl.com/5fsv9rb7) as buttons and some elastic metallic gold cord from Jo-Ann as button loops.

Serving as a greeter at Twelfth Night 2018. I am wearing a beautiful blue brocade gamurra, which I bought from Simonetta Caproni, along with one of my red veils.

Atlantian Fall University 2017 - wearing the gown with my beautiful reta (cap) from ChainMailleandPearls on Etsy (link below)

Holiday Faire 2018 - I am wearing a gorgeous rust silk V-front late 16th century Venetian gown, which I bought from Simonetta Caproni.

Yule 2019 - I decided to add additional lacing rings. I believe I used small brass lacing rings from Renaissance Fabrics (link below)

April 2020 - for SCA Quarantine Spirit week (created by Dame Sibella Denton - see link below) I wore this outfit I had put together for a German Renn themed event. The straw hat was a gift from Lady Héloïse de Bruyères, the vest is from my Venetian Deadpool outfit, the skirt was thrifted, and chemise is from DungeonDudsNJewels on Etsy (https://tinyurl.com/4cdbx2u3).

October 2021 - wearing a hand-me-down black bliaut with some non-period accessories to the 18th Annual Cathouse Halloween Party. I'd temporarily altered the formerly keyhole collar for an Addams Family themed garb challenge I wasn't able to enter.

Closeup of the keyhole neckline. When I received the bliaut it had metallic trim here, which I replaced with bias tape that matches the sleeve lining.

Closeup of the lacing eyelets I put in (when I received the bliaut both sides were sewn up). Not pretty, but functional! The twill tape was a synthetic I got from Jo-Ann. Dime for scale.

August 2022 - for my dear friend Justina di Silvestri's elevation in April 2022, Maestro Lorenzo Petrucci generously made jackets for Héloïse de Bruyères and me. Hose from T'ger Toggs (https://www.tgertoggs.com/pages/pants_tights.shtml) completed our Carpaccio gondolier outfits. Unfortunately neither of us were able to make it, but luckily others were able to stand in our stead. See the link to Lorenzo's post below.
