Turquoise Gamurra and Pink Giornea
updated ?
In 2015 the lovely Lady Jeane Kilmeny generously gave me a half-finished linen gamurra. All I did was finish the sleeves and change the lacing from the sides to the front.
The sleeves pin to the shoulders of the gamurra (the turquoise underdress, which can be worn separately). The giornea is the pink garment, which is essentially four triangles sewn together at the shoulders and down the back, kind of like a vest with no side seams. I made the it from some pink lightweight synthetic fiber brocade I had in my stash using Cathelina di Alessandri's pattern.
I used some jewelry findings (Blue Moon Beads 6mm Gold thick solid rings) as lacing rings (I wouldn't recommend that, but I was in a hurry and didn't have time to shop around for something better). There are 9 rings on each side. The lacing itself is a shoelace (I was really pressed for time!)
I made the chemise from cotton bubble gauze from Jo-Ann following Lady Madylyne Grey's pattern, with an extra 12" or so added to the sleeve length so I could make the little puffs. I had the navy belt from thrifting, and I bought the reta (cap) from the Etsy shop ChainMailleandPearls.
